It's easy to moan about the bad times we live in and to say that there is no chance to change things because everything is connected worldwide.

BUT...all of us can make contribute to a better world by only changing little things in their everyday lives.
Inspired by the project "We Are What We Do" we have started to publish our own ideas how to change things for the better.
Here you can find the ideas of the BOS I 10 at the David-Roentgen-Schule, Neuwied.

Energy saving bulbs are good for the environment!!!

I think a good idea to save energy is to use energy saving bulbs so I´ll give you some informations about them.

The today's energy savings lamp use with the same brightness up to 80% less energy than normal light bulbs. This signifies, an energy saving bulb of 20 watts is comparable with an "normal light bulb" with 100 watts and, besides, has one up to 15 times longer life span. An investment already pays itself after one year. Thanks the clearly longer life span energy savings lamp would save between 80 and 100 euros. To the comparison: An electric light bulb is after approximately 1000 hours ripe for the garbage can. Energy savings lamps hold according to manufacturer's data on average 8000 up to 15,000 hours. Tests of the endowment product test were broken off after 19,000 hours, although some test lamps still functioned.

Roughly calculated can count of a lowering of the stream costs for a private household of about 180 euros per year after substitute of customary light bulbs by energy savings lamps. Would all light bulbs be changed against energy savings lamps in German households could be 7.5 milliard kWh of stream saved up. Monetary valued corresponds this stream amount about 1.5 milliard euros. The exchange of all light bulbs against energy savings lamps in Germany would lead furthermore to a reduction of the CO2 of output of about 4.5 million metric tons.

Finally I can say, energy saving bulbs are better for the environment and for your purse.

Please use energy saving bulbs!!!
